Software for Departments


UChicago has software license agreements with a range of vendors to provide departments with free or reduced-cost academic and productivity tools. If there's a software package you think might be of common interest, but you don't see it listed here, send your suggestions to the IT Services Software Licensing team at licensing@uchicago.edu.

Microsoft 365 Microsoft 365 

Current staff, faculty, and students

The On-Premises licenses can be downloaded at no cost by faculty and staff from the University of Chicago or UChicago Medicine. The licenses can be installed on only computers owned by the University, or UChicago Medicine, and only on work-at-home computers.

The Desktop Bundle licenses are not intended for personal computer use. At no cost, you may install Microsoft 365 (portal.office.com) on computers owned by the University, or UChicago Medicine, and on work-at-home computers.

Microsoft Windows Upgrade Windows 10 upgrade

 Faculty, students, and staff who work at home

 

At no cost, the upgrade can be downloaded by the faculty and staff of the University of Chicago or UChicago Medicine. It can be installed on computers owned by the University, UChicago Medicine, and only on work-at-home computers.

Current faculty and staff

Visio and Project licenses are available for purchase on UChicago Software Licensing. Your departmental purchaser will choose the IT Services Site Licensing icon as the supplier.

Windows Server licenses, SQL, and CALs are covered under the University's EES agreement.  Contact IT Services Software Licensing team at licensing@uchicago.edu for access to these licenses.

Visual Studio w/MSDN, Power BI Pro, and server licenses not covered under the Core agreement can be purchased on UChicago Software Licensing. Contact licensing@uchicago.edu for purchase quotes.
