iPhone Support
All technical support for the iPhone is handled by Apple directly.
- If you purchased AppleCare, call the AppleCare dedicated iPhone team: 800.800.2775. When prompted, press option 3.
- Otherwise, call Apple Technical Support at 800.694.7466.
- Apple has three warranty or repair options:
- The most common is an active exchange in which they will send a replacement device and place a hold on your credit card for the value of the replacement device until your original is returned. This is best because it requires only a few minutes of downtime as you swap the SIM card and resynchronize with iTunes. We apologize if the credit card hold is a concern for you but assure you it will be removed once the original device is received.
- Take the device to an Apple Store Genius Bar for repair. This may require several days of downtime while awaiting receipt of the new phone, but you incur no immediate cost.
UChicago Wi-Fi
In the UChicago Wi-Fi network, the iPhone appears like any other device, meaning you must authenticate using the same steps as any other device. Use the Eduroam Wireless Network. During periods of relatively short inactivity, your iPhone may disconnect from the Wi-Fi network. When this occurs, you will need to wait for your device to reconnect. In some cases, you may need to switch the Wi-Fi on and off to speed up this process. The iPhone will regularly attempt to close network connections to save power.
Additionally, as you move across campus and pass from one area to another, the access point your iPhone is connected to may change, introducing short gaps in connectivity while the device reconnects. See Wireless Network at UChicago FAQ for more information.
UChicago VPN (cVPN)
From the iPhone App Store, download the Cisco AnyConnect application. When installed, perform the following steps:
- Description: Enter a description of your choice.
- Server Address: Enter cvpn.uchicago.edu.
- Network Roaming: Set to On.
- Use Certificates: Set to Off.
- Enter your CNetID and password.
