Get Mathematica


Wolfram Mathematica excels across all areas of technical computing, including mathematical calculations, neural networks, machine learning, image processing, geometry, data science, visualizations, and more. Mathematica is available to all current faculty, students, and staff.

Get Mathematica, Mathematica Online, Wolfram Alpha Pro, and Wolfram Alpha Notebook Edition

  1. Go to Wolfram, enter your @uchicago.edu email, and select Continue.
  2. Select your product:
    1. Select Get Mathematica Desktop to request an Activation Key and installer for a local installation or
    2. Select Get Mathematica Online for additional resources on Wolfram servers and browser-based access (complements a local Mathematica installation) or
    3. Select Get Wolfram Alpha Pro to use your Wolfram ID for Pro access at wolframalpha.com.
    4. Select Get Wolfram Alpha Notebook Edition for Wolfram Alpha-styled calculations in a Wolfram Notebook.
    5. Select Get Mathematica Desktop multiple times to request multiple Activation Keys. (One key per machine is required.)
  3. Select Single Sign-On (SSO).
  4. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  5. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and password.
    Note: The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Single Machine Installation

  1. Go to Wolfram.
  2. Type in your University of Chicago email address and select Continue.
  3. Select Download for Desktop under the Wolfram Mathematica section.

  4. When prompted to activate, select Single Sign-On (SSO).
  5. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  6. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and password.
    Note: The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Mathematica Online

  1. Go to Wolfram Cloud.
  2. Select Sign In.
  3. Select Single Sign-On (SSO).

  4. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  5. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and password.
    Note: The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Wolfram Alpha Pro

  1. Go to Wolfram Alpha.

  2. Select Sign in from the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Select Single Sign-On (SSO).
  4. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  5. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and password.
    Note: The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Wolfram Alpha Notebook Edition

  1. Go to Wolfram Cloud.
  2. Select Sign in.
  3. Select Single Sign-On (SSO).
  4. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  5. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and Password.
    Note: The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.
  6. To install Wolfram Alpha Notebook Edition on the desktop:
    1. Go to Wolfram.
    2. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
    3. Select the link to download Wolfram Alpha Notebook Edition for your operating system.

    4. When prompted to activate, select Single Sign-On (SSO).
    5. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
    6. Authenticate with Okta using your UChicago CNetID and password.
      Note:
      The first time that you sign in using Okta, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Mathematica (network installation)

For network administrators only

  1. Go to Wolfram.
  2. Enter your @uchicago.edu email and select Continue.
  3. Select Request network license under Mathematica.
  4. Fill out the form and select Access your new network license.
  5. Download, install, and activate MathLM on your license server by following the instructions from How do I install MathLM? FAQ.
  6. Download and install Mathematica on the client machines by following the instructions from Where can I find Wolfram product installation guides?
  7. When prompted to activate the product on the client machines, select Other ways to activate and follow the instructions to connect the product to MathLM from Connect to a Network License Server.

    Alert: When you are no longer affiliated with UChicago as a current faculty member, student, or staff member, you must remove your copy of the software from your machine and make arrangements with Wolfram to purchase the commercial version.
