Network connectivity on campus can be found through a physical network jack or over the campus wireless network. While wireless is common, wired networking offers certain advantages. IT Services provides the jacks and activation. Connecting through a wired network requires a working jack on the proper subnet using a fixed or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) assigned Internet Protocol address.
- If a jack is physically present but not active, simply submit the Activate Network Jack request form. This service is free of charge.
- If a jack doesn't exist or a jack needs to be relocated, submit a New Network Cable/Jack Installation request. The installation of cabling and a network outlet may be subject to an installation fee.
- If you require a static IP address, which is an IP that does not change, use the DHCP Request form. In the comments section of the form, specify you want a static IP address.
