What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is the transmission of voice conversations over a data network. IT Services uses Cisco IP phones; consequently, the term IP phones is used interchangeably with VoIP.

What are the benefits of VoIP?

Organizationally, there are significant benefits to implementing a VoIP system, such as simplifying infrastructure, reducing our eventual costs as the world migrates to VoIP, and keeping up with technological trends.

For individuals, VoIP phones offer certain features beyond those of traditional phones. These features allow you to manage your calls, access various services, and voice communications tools. In addition to the features you already have on your traditional phone, all of the IP phones provide these features:

Significant Differences

Headsets: If you use a headset with your traditional phone and would like to use it with your VoIP phone, your phone will require special equipment.
