Temporary accounts, sometimes known as t-9 accounts or t-9s, are part of the Trusted Agent Program (TAG). Individuals with Temporary accounts are doing the work of the University, but are not employed directly. Temporary accounts are restricted from certain services and have limitations not applicable to full University members within others. One of the services that Temporary account holders do not have is full (or signed in) Online Directory (directory.uchicago.edu) access.
Individuals with Temporary accounts do not appear in the Directory and cannot sign in to the Directory to perform extended searches. Attempting to sign in will result in an error message. However, Temporary account holders can perform a general search using the Directory under the following conditions:
To avoid the error message: Do not select the Sign In button if you are logged in to other University applications. As long as you have not already tried to log in to the Directory within a single browser session, you will be able to use the Directory to perform a general search.
If you have tried to sign in to the Directory: You must either exit your browser session completely so that your browser closes, or clear your browsing history/data.
