UChicago Box is a cloud-based storage service that provides unlimited, free, online space for storing or sharing files. Use this FAQ to get the most from your UChicago Box account.
You are the only person who has access to your files unless you invite collaborators to edit or view your content. However, UChicago system administrators have access to your files but they can access them only when invoked by a request that is approved by the Office of Legal Council. It's recommended that you do not store personal files on your UChicago Box account.
If you have a managed computer, you will need help installing Box Office and Box Drive. Please contact IT Services.
Your files are always backed up in the cloud by Box.
New graduates can keep their UChicago Box Account for a limited time.
Your UChicago Box account (associated with your @uchicago.edu email address) is available for a very limited time, before it becomes inaccessible and the contents are deleted. It is your responsibility to move any data you wish to preserve to another storage space prior to leaving the University.
Please use the form to make a File Share Request.
Please see Safe and Secure File Sharing on UChicago Box.
Files remain in the Trash folder, and can be recovered, for 90 days before being permanently deleted.
Extensive help is available at Box Community: Support. If you have specific questions about using or configuring UChicago Box in the University environment, please contact IT Services.
