Who has access to my files?

You are the only person who has access to your files unless you invite collaborators to edit or view your content. However, UChicago system administrators have access to your files but they can access them only when invoked by a request that is approved by the Office of Legal Council. It's recommended that you do not store personal files on your UChicago Box account.

My computer is managed by Desktop Support. How do I install Box Office and Box Drive to my desktop?

If you have a managed computer, you will need help installing Box Office and Box Drive. Please contact IT Services.

My computer is managed by Desktop Support. How do my files get backed up?

Your files are always backed up in the cloud by Box.

Faculty, staff, and other UChicago Box users:

Your UChicago Box account (associated with your @uchicago.edu email address) is available for a very limited time, before it becomes inaccessible and the contents are deleted. It is your responsibility to move any data you wish to preserve to another storage space prior to leaving the University.

How do I get a group folder for my department?

How long do files stay in the trash before they're permanently deleted?

Files remain in the Trash folder, and can be recovered, for 90 days before being permanently deleted.
