Qualtrics Survey Platform at UChicago


Qualtrics is a cloud-based survey platform. The University of Chicago currently offers access to Qualtrics to users with a current CNetID or UCHADID free of charge.

Note: The Qualtrics platform will not allow uchicago.edu emails to be entered in the "From" field of email distributions. An invalid domain error will show if this is attempted. For surveys with email distributions scheduled after January 31, 2024, we recommend that you update your "From" field with "noreply@qemailserver.com" for those distributions to avoid any errors. Qualtrics is available to Chicago Booth faculty, students, and staff by reaching helpdesk@chicagobooth.edu.

Accessing Qualtrics

University users can log in to Qualtrics at uchicago.qualtrics.com.

When you log in for the first time, the system generates a Trial Account using your CNetID and password. You may have to complete two-factor authentication. With basic settings, you can create up to two surveys with up to 50 responses for each survey and only share them with users within the UChicago brand. However, the surveys cannot be activated, exported, shared with others outside our brand, or distributed online until the account is upgraded for that purpose.

Account Upgrade

To upgrade your account, complete the User Agreement Form. Upon completion, the survey results will be forwarded to the Qualtrics team as an account upgrade request. Generally, requests will be granted as long as one of the following conditions is met:

If the user does not have PI status, the request should either come from or include contact information for whoever will be responsible for overseeing the use of the system. In research settings, this will usually be the PI for the project. In non-research settings, this can be a University faculty member or an administrator. As part of the approval process, users will be asked to fill out an online agreement form detailing their planned use of the service.

To log in to Basecamp or Qualtrics support:

  1. In a browser, go to Basecamp or Qualtrics technician.
    Tip: If you log in using the Basecamp link, go to Step 2. If you log in through the Qualtrics technician link, go to Step 4.
  2. Select Log In in the upper right corner
  3. From the Sign In Method list, select Qualtrics Credentials.
  4. Select Sign in with SSO.
  5. Type UChicago for your Organization ID, then select Continue.
  6. If prompted, please complete two-factor authentication with your CNetID and password.
  7. Select Get Technical Support to start a live chat, phone call or email ticket.
