Web Hosting Overview

IT Services provides web hosting options for static and dynamic websites. We also offer consultation services and will work with application owners and software vendors to find the right fit for your website.

To request hosting for your website, please send your desired hostname request (vhost) (e.g., its.uchicago.edu) to wsman@uchicago.edu. Once your request has been reviewed and approved, Web Services will forward your request to webadmin@uchicago.edu for configuration.

Please provide the following information in your request:

  1. The contact information of your department or organization to be used as site owner.
  2. Your hostname request (vhost) (i.e., its.uchicago.edu)
  3. A list of CNetIDs who will be responsible for maintaining the website content to be used as site maintainers.
  4. Special considerations for your website, ie, PHP requirements, LDAP authentication, SSL, etc.
  5. If you would like Custom Virtual Machine (VM) Web Hosting, a consultation will be required.

Custom Virtual Machine (VM) Web Hosting

Custom Virtual Machine (VM) Web Hosting is provided and may be suitable for websites requiring custom software and/or support needs.
