Overview
The University offers Microsoft 365 OneDrive as a cloud-based file storage and backup solution. It is comparable to UChicago Drive and UChicago Box. OneDrive is available for free as part of the UChicago Microsoft Campus Agreement. As part of the Microsoft 365 suite, OneDrive can be installed on up to five devices. You can download the app from portal.office.com using your CNetID and password.
Tip: To avoid a degraded user experience when using an app, you must log in to the Microsoft 365 portal at least once every 30 days.
Features
When you use OneDrive, you can:
- Install it on a computer, tablet, or smartphone no matter what operating system you're using (e.g., Mac, Windows, Android, iOS).
- Share files with anyone, including individuals who are outside of the University.
- Back up your local folders, files, and photos for easy access from any location or computerized device.
- Store multiple types of files, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, JPG, and PNG.
- Collaborate on documents in real time with others.
Install OneDrive
Follow the instructions below to use OneDrive.
- Go to the portal.office.com, enter your UChicago email address, then select Next.
Tip: If you have problems logging in, be sure to use your actual email address and not an alias. - When you enter your email address, Microsoft will automatically redirect you to the UChicago Single Sign-On website. Enter your CNetID and password, select Log In, then complete two-factor authentication if prompted. Tip: Select Send Me a Push.
- After you log in, you will see the Microsoft 365 landing page. Select the OneDrive icon.
