MyAccount (myaccount.uchicago.edu) is a portal where you may manage your University account services from a single location.
From MyAccount, you may set up or modify the following account services:
You may change your CNetID password or convert from using a password to a passphrase (or back again) from MyAccount. Passwords for your CNetID can be either a combination of letters, characters, and numbers (e.g., H45kar1890), or a passphrase, which is typically a sentence (e.g., Finland does not exist).
Your Recovery Address/Recovery Phone is a non-UChicago email address and/or phone number capable of receiving text messages. The number or email address is registered in the MyAccount system. If you forget your password, you can change it online by using a code sent to your Recovery Address/Recovery Phone. Your Recovery Address/Recovery Phone is also used to notify you whenever a change is made to your account. This way, you stay in control of your account if you get notifications of any unauthorized changes to your account.
For instructions on entering Recovery Information, see the article Add a Recovery Address or Recovery Phone to Your University Account.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enhances the security of your CNetID by using your phone, tablet, or a device such as a hardware token, to verify your identity when you attempt to access University applications. This prevents anyone but you from using your account to log in to websites that are protected with Okta authentication even if they know your CNetID password.
Your security question is used so that you may change your password when you have forgotten it. Your security question should be specific enough so that others cannot guess the answer, but not too obscure for you to remember. For information about using your security question, or what to do when you cannot answer it, see the article Change Your CNetID Password or Passphrase.
Email forwarding allows you to redirect where your CNetID@uchicago.edu email is received and read. You can read more about email forwarding in this article Forward Your UChicago Email.
An alias (sometimes also called a nickname) is a pointer to your CNetID@uchicago.edu address. This allows you to receive mail sent to alias@uchicago.edu in addition to your regular CNetID@uchicago.edu address. Please note, you can't use your alias to log in to any system or service that requires your CNetID.
For more information and instructions regarding aliases, see the article CNetID Email Aliases FAQ.
