Certain workstations or research projects may require more wired network bandwidth than what is provided by standard wired ethernet ports on campus. The standard bandwidth is 1 GB, but you may request an increase from the standard bandwidth to 10 GB.

To request an increase in network bandwidth to 10 GB, please Ask an IT Question and provide the following required information:

• If your device is currently connected to the wired network:
  
  • Building, room, and data jack number that the device is connected to.
  • IP address of the device (if possible).
  • The source IP address and destination IP address that the device communicates with
  • The reason why you need bandwidth greater than 1GB. Please note any potential changes that might affect your need for more bandwidth in the future.
• If your device is not connected to the wired network:
  
  • Building, room, and data jack number where the device will be located.
  • The reason why you need bandwidth greater than 1GB. Please note any potential changes that might affect your need for more bandwidth in the future.

Please note:

• This service, when provided outside of IT Services data centers, may incur an extra charge.
• 10 GB access is not available in all buildings.
