General Questions

Who do I contact for support with a Canon MFD?

Contact Ken Witrykowski at kwitryko@uchicago.edu or 773.702.5461.

What are the default print settings?

The default print settings are color and two[-sided printing. To make changes, go to the Options tab within the Secure Queue.

How do I select which Canon MFD my job prints to?

After you send the print job to the server, you can release it to any Canon MFD. Simply tap the card reader on any MFD that is on the system and you will be presented with the documents you requested to be printed.

How long will my print job stay in the queue if I do not release it right away?

Print jobs will stay in the queue for 24 hours after you submit it. Print jobs not released after 24 hours will be deleted, and you will have to resubmit the print job.

Do I need my UChicago ID card every time I print to a Canon MFD?

Yes, you will need to bring your UChicago ID card to release a print job to the MFD. You will only be asked to log in the first time you go to release a print job.

What if I forget my UChicago ID card at home?

If you forget your UChicago ID card, you can log in with your CNetID and password. You must either tap your ID card or enter your CNetID and password to use the MFDs. This is one of the requirements that helps make the system secure.

For instructions, view Log in to Canon Multifunction Device with Card Reader.

What if I lose my UChicago ID card and have it replaced?

If you have your UChicago ID card replaced, you will be asked to log in again the next time you try to release a print job (as though it were your first time).

Do I need to log out of the MFD?

Yes, for security purposes you should log out after you are done using the MFD. If you forget, it will log you out automatically after one minute.

Billing

How do I confirm my jobs are being charged to the correct account?

Your department's financial administrator has provided ITS with the FST/Oracle Cloud accounts that they have decided to use for recharging printing. As a user, you are assigned to a department and the recharge for your department's printing is tied to an FST/Oracle Cloud account.

What is the billing cycle for Managed Print Services?

The billing cycle is from the 21st of the previous month to the 20th of the current month. For example, your first billing cycle of the year will be from January 21-February 20. Your department's financial administrator will receive the monthly billing statement.
