Once you have recorded a Zoom meeting to the cloud, you can download it to your local computer and then upload it to Panopto to save it long-term. Zoom cloud recordings are deleted after 90 days, so it is a good idea to keep a copy in Panopto. Panopto recordings have no expiration date.
NOTE: If the recording is a class recording, be sure to review the recording deletion policy regarding the protection of student privacy.
- Select the Zoom item in your Canvas course navigation menu.
- Select the Cloud Recordings tab.
- If you don't see the recording in the list, use the From and To dates to set a date range, then select Search to find your meeting.
- When you locate your meeting, select the topic name to open it.

- Select Download to download your meeting's recording to your computer.

- Select the Panopto Video item in your Canvas course navigation menu. If it is not already enabled, follow these steps to enable it.
- Select Create, then select Upload Media.
- Drag and drop the file directly into the dialog box or click to browse for it.

- Your video will be uploaded to the Panopto folder associated with your Canvas course site (this is the default setting). Once it has finished processing, it will be available to view. The course folder in Panopto automatically gives everyone in the Canvas course roster access to the recordings. (If you only want to save the recordings for yourself, choose a different folder - e.g. My Folder - in Panopto before uploading.)

- You can rename your video to give it a more user-friendly name than the one assigned by Zoom.
- Mouse over the video to make a menu appear and select Settings.
- In the dialog box that appears, select the blue Edit link that appears next to the video name.

- Type the new name, then select Save.

- When your video is ready, it will automatically become available to anyone on your Canvas course roster if you have saved it in the course folder. You can also share the video with users outside your Canvas course if you wish. For more information, see the section Share Your Panopto Videos Outside Your Course in the article Manage Panopto Media Content and Add It to Canvas.
- To comply with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and federal guidelines, we recommend that you add captions to your video. If your video is in English, you can add machine-generated captions from Panopto, which you may also edit for clarity (recommended). You can also upload a manually created caption file and add it to your video. For more information, see the section Caption a Panopto Video in the article Use Advanced Panopto Functions.
