GitHub Enterprise Overview

IT Services offers a dedicated instance of GitHub Enterprise where you can manage source code and file versioning, with built-in collaboration, added security, and support from GitHub. GitHub Enterprise is a cloud-based service hosted by GitHub.

Request GitHub Enterprise

GitHub Enterprise membership is available to faculty and staff affiliated with the University. You can join an existing organization or have a new organization created for you. To join an existing organization, contact the owner directly, or use this form to request a new organization.

Get Started

  1. Sign up for a new account on the GitHub website. If you already have a GitHub account with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, go to Step 4.
  2. Enter your UChicago email address (i.e., CNetID@uchicago.edu) and create a password.
Alert! Do not use your CNetID password.
  3. Set up GitHub two-factor authentication (2FA) for your GitHub account. Once your account is set up, go to Step 4. Note: This is not the UChicago 2FA process.
  4. Log in to UChicago GitHub Enterprise at github.com/enterprises/uchicago. Logging in is a two-step process:
    1. Log in to your GitHub account with your CNetID and GitHub password. This lets you into GitHub in general. Complete the GitHub two-factor authentication process if prompted.
    2. Log in to Your UChicago Account with your CNetID and CNetID password. This lets you access organizations under UChicago GitHub Enterprise. Complete the UChicago two-factor authentication if prompted.
