The University of Chicago Virtual Private Network (cVPN) provides faculty, students, and staff with secure access to University network resources as if you were on campus, no matter where you are in the world. The cVPN is used to remotely access resources that are only available while on the campus network. These resources include shared resources like departmental file shares, applications like remote desktop access (RDP/SSH/etc), and other campus-only resources. All you need is your CNetID and password to connect the cVPN. You will also need two-factor authentication.
To get started with using cVPN, simply open your favorite browser then go to cvpn.uchicago.edu, where you can download the appropriate application for your operating system (OS) and device (i.e., laptop, tablet, smartphone). If you need assistance using the cVPN, contact IT Services or your local support group.
Note: RDP (remote desktop protocol) is not accessible from off-campus unless you are connecting via cVPN.
