You can use your iPhone or iPad to securely connect to the UChicago network from anywhere in the world. All you need is the Cisco AnyConnect Virtual Private Network app, which is easy to install. The latest AnyConnect version supports Apple iOS 10.3 through 15.1(2). Simply follow these instructions:

If you cannot successfully install the app, contact IT Services for assistance.

  1. Open the App Store app, then search for AnyConnect.
  2. When you locate the AnyConnect app, tap Install to install the app on your device.
  3. Find your newly installed AnyConnect application, then tap on the AnyConnect icon to open the app.
  4. The very first time you start AnyConnect, you may get the following pop-up message: "Cisco AnyConnect Security Mobility Client extends the VPN capabilities of your device. Do you want to enable this software?" Select OK.
  5. Select Connections, then Add VPN Connection to add a new VPN connection. Tap Allow to finish adding the connection.
  6. Add the VPN Connection information:
For the Description field, enter CVPN. Enter cvpn.uchicago.edu in the Server Address field. Tap Save when you're done.
