Trial Balance


Purpose

The Trial Balance report is used to verify the debits and credits for UChicago. It is used to ensure that the books are in balance and to identify any potential discrepancies between the General Ledger and the financial position.

Business Questions

· How much did the balance of a specific account change year over year?

· View the ‘Variance Percentage’ columns in the table

· The percentage represents the percent that is unaccounted

· Are there any mistakes in the transactions that have been entered?

· View the ‘Variance’ column for the mistakes that have been entered

· The ‘Variance’ column represents the unaccounted amount

· What information is there for a given account?

· Utilize the ‘Account’ filter to narrow the table to a specified account

· View the table

· Can I look at more than one account at a time?

· Utilize the ‘Account’ filter and select ‘More/Search’

· Double click or drag over all accounts you would want shown and select OK

· Select Apply
