Purpose
Orbit Reporting makes it easy to work with your data in Excel using its add-on called XLEdge. With XLEdge, you can log in, browse, and run certain Orbit reports—right from Excel. This means you can quickly access the ERP and operational reports you’ve created in Orbit without switching between applications.
Why use XLEdge? It saves time, simplifies reporting, and lets you work in the familiar Excel environment while pulling live data from Orbit.
This guide will show you step-by-step how to download and install the XLEdge Excel Add-On so you can start using it right away.
Keep in Mind
- If you do not have administrative rights to your PC you will need to work with your IT Desktop Support Representative to download the Add-On.
- Only Orbit Data Reports are available via XLEdge. Listed are the reports available for use in XLEdge.

Downloading Orbit XL Edge
- Log into Orbit
- Select the dropdown next to your name and select Download Artifacts.

- A pop-up box will appear, select OrbitXLEdge to download the add-on.

- Open your Downloads folder to install the Orbit XLEdge add-on
Using Orbit XL Edge
Once the install is complete, you will be able to use Orbit XLEdge in Microsoft Excel. Here are steps on how to utilize Orbit XLEdge.
- Open a black Excel Document and select the Orbit XLEdge tab.

- Select Login.

- For the initial setup: Select the Instance Name field and type Orbit Prod, then select the URL Address field and add the following URL - https://orbitreporting.uchicago.edu/reporting.
Access Orbit XLEdge after setup: Select the Instance Name Orbit Prod and select GO>>.
Note: you can zoom out if the information on your takes over window view.

- Follow the prompts to log into Orbit using your CNET and Password.
Note: if there are warning displays set on the Orbit webpage, you will receive the same warnings in Orbit XLEdge.
- Access the report to which you wish to retrieve data. The information will display the same as it would on the Orbit webpage. The difference here is that it is in an Excel format and the report can be saved as a template and your data can get updated each time you log into Orbit through Orbit XLEdge.
