Note: To verify if you are eligible for the Claude Enterprise service, please visit our
Eligibility article. If you are currently ineligible but would like to make a case for access, we encourage you to contact your leadership and have them submit an exception request with a valid business justification using the
Claude Enterprise Support Request form.
Claim Standard License
To claim your standard, free-to-use Claude Enterprise account at UChicago, follow these steps:
- Go to the UChicago MySailPoint Portal by visiting https://uchicago.identitynow.com/ with your CNetID and password.
- Complete two-factor authentication if prompted.
- The home page of the MySailPoint Portal displays.

- Select Launchpad from the header.

- Click the Launch button under Request access to Claude AI.

Note: If you do not see "Request access to Claude AI" on the Launchpad, our system currently does not identify you as eligible for this service. If you believe this is an error, please ask your leadership to submit an exception request with a valid business justification using the
Claude Enterprise Support Request form and our team will be happy to look into it for you.
- The Request access to Claude AI confirmation box appears. Select the Launch button again.

- Read the Terms and Conditions form. Confirm you agree to the terms by setting the slider from No to Yes.

- Click the appropriate Claude environment from the dropdown menu by selecting Claude Enterprise or HIPAA Claude. Read a comparison between the two versions in our Full vs. HIPAA article. The University offers two versions of Claude:
- Claude Enterprise, the full version of the Claude platform, is not approved for use with protected health information (PHI) or research health information (RHI). PHI and RHI should never be used within the enterprise platform under any circumstance.
- HIPAA Claude, a more limited version of the product that has additional safeguards for sensitive health data, is available for those who work with PHI and RHI. You should request access to HIPAA Claude if you plan to use the platform to work with PHI or RHI.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Once you have selected your Claude environment, it cannot be changed unless you contact University IT Services at claude-feedback@uchicago.edu.

- Click Submit.

- A success message appears once your request has been received.

Alert! Please note that no email confirmations are sent when the provisioning has been granted. To check the status of your request, continue to the next section after approximately one to two hours.
Log in to Claude for the first time
- After submitting your access request, please wait approximately one to two hours to allow time for the provisioning process to complete.
- In an internet browser, visit the Claude website (https://claude.ai).
- Enter your full CNetID@uchicago.edu email address in the email box. This cannot be an alias, BSD email address, or Booth email address.
- As soon as you populate the last letter of the "@uchicago.edu" portion, a button appears labeled Continue with SSO. Select this button.

Note: Do NOT type out your uchicago.edu email address and then press the Enter key; this will bypass the SSO sign-in and assume you want to create a personal Claude account.
- The page redirects you to UChicago's Single Sign-On page. Click Next to enter your CNet password.
- Complete two-factor authentication if prompted.
- Once you've connected to your provisioned Claude Enterprise account, you can start using Claude Chat on the web right away, without any additional setup.
Upgrade to Premium License
Request a Premium license if your work regularly exhausts Standard limits, for example sustained Claude Code sessions or high-volume document processing. Premium licenses are $600/year, billed annually at a quarterly rate to a valid financial account. Pricing is tied to our agreement cycle, so anyone signing up mid-cycle is prorated based on the quarter they request the license. To request a premium license, please submit the Claude Enterprise Premium License Request form.
