Changing your Health Savings Account (HSA) Contributions in Workday


This document provides employees directions on how to change their Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions in Workday after completing initial (new hires, recent transfers/promotions to a benefit eligible position, etc.) or annual enrollment.

· Only employees enrolled in the Blue Cross Blue Shield HDHP Maroon Savings Choice Plan are eligible to participate in the HSA.

1. Log into Workday using your CNET ID and password.

2. From the Home page, select Menu in the top-left corner and choose the Benefits App.

3. Under the Change menu, select Benefits.

4. Using the Change Reason dropdown menu, choose HSA Change.

a. Carefully read the Instructions located on the right side of the screen.

5. Type or use the calendar icon to select the Date of Change Request.

a. Enter the date of the day when you’re submitting the HSA change request. New elections will go into effect on the first day of the month following the date you choose.

b. Changes to your HSA contributions cannot be backdated or take effect retroactively.

6. Select the Submit button.

7. You will see a dialog box pop up with the next task (Change Benefit Elections) to complete. Select Open.

a. If you don’t select Open and the dialog box disappears, navigate to your Inbox by selecting the mail icon in the top-right corner of the page, and then choose the Benefit Change – HSA Change task on the left side of the screen.

8. Select the Let’s Get Started button.

9. In the HSA Change screen, select Enroll (if you didn’t select a contribution during initial/annual enrollment) or Manage (if you did select a contribution amount) under the Health Savings Account section.

a. If you want to start contributing to the HSA for the first time or if you want to update your contribution amount, follow these steps:

i. Choose the option button Select.

1. The IRS limits the amount that you can contribute each year. To review the minimum and maximum amounts, choose HSA Bank under the Benefit Plan Details column.

2. Carefully read the Health Savings Account Instructions located on the right side of the screen before moving forward.

ii. Select Confirm and Continue.

iii. On the next screen, indicate the amount you would like to contribute to your HSA by filling out either the Per Paycheck or the Annual field. The remaining field will calculate automatically based on your previous entry.

1. You may not decrease your annual contribution to an amount that is lower than the contributions you have already made this year.

iv. Select Save.

b. If you wish to stop contributing to your HSA:

i. Select the option button Waive and choose Confirm and Continue.

10. Once you have made your changes, the system will take you back to the HSA Change page, where you will select the Review and Sign button.

11. Review the information, taking note of the Coverage Begin Date that indicates when your modifications will be effective.

12. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, read the Electronic Signature section, and check the I Accept box.

13. Select Submit to complete the process. Once you have chosen this option, the event will be routed to a Benefits Specialist for approval.

14. Select the View Benefits Statement button to print your contribution change for your records.

15. Once your contribution change is approved, you can look up this information by doing the following:

a. Select Menu in the top-left corner of screen and choose the Benefits App.

b. Under the View menu, select Benefit Elections.
